Changing any routine can often be a stressful adjustment for kids and parents.  Here are a few tips to help prepare your child for the “spring forward” time change.

  1. Start by slowly changing and introducing the new sleep schedule before the time change…begin waking your child 30 minutes earlier in the morning and putting then to bed 30 minutes earlier at night.
  2. Adjust meal & nap times.
  3. Keep in mind the extra light in the evening.
  4. Even though the time is changing, keep the routine the same.
  5. Be sympathetic and remain calm.   It may take a little longer than you had hoped, but they will adjust in no time.
