This hearty and yummy oatmeal will make Christmas morning breakfast easy, the best part?  Make it in your crockpot, so when you wake up it is ready to serve!

This recipe serves a family of 4, adjust accordingly to make as much as you need.

 

Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 apples – peeled, cored, and sliced 1/4 inch thick

¾ cup dried cranberries

¼ cup butter, cut into pieces

2 cups regular rolled oats

2 cups water

1 cup apple juice

1 cup cranberry juice

¼ teaspoon salt

 

Mix cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg together in a bowl.  Add in the cranberries and apples and make sure everything is mixed well.   Pour into slow cooker and add butter pieces on top (don’t mix).

In another bowl, mix the rolled oats with juices, and salt.  Pour over the mixture in the slow cooker.  Cover.  Do not stir.  Set on low for 8 hours.

Serve in bowls and garish as you wish!
