Happy International Women’s Day!

A day to celebrate the women in our lives, it should really be everyday.

To honour this day, here’s a list of things we wouldn’t have, if it weren’t for these amazing women!

 

Chocolate Chip Cookies:

The first batch of chocolate chip cookies were first made in 1938 by a lady named Ruth Graves Wakefield, who ran the Toll House Inn.

 

WiFi:

During WWII, Actress, Hedy Lamarr presented the US navy a patent for a spread-spectrum radio. It’s been credited as an early version of today’s modern WiFi

 

Monopoly:

A man took credit for the classic board game, however Elizabeth Magie patented the first version in 1903.

 

Hair Brush:

Lyda Newman invented a way to use synthetic bristles to get rid of knots in hair. She issued the original patent in 1898.

 

Your Web Browser:

The first computer programmer was a women named Ada Lovelace.
