The mayors of  Minto and the Township of Mapleton have declared states of emergency following Friday’s record rainfall.

Late this morning residents from a trailer park in Harriston were evacuated. Power and gas have been disconnection. Minto Fire is also helping to evacuate people living on King Street South.

The Peel Maryborough Drayton Arena Complex at 68 Main Street West in Drayton has been set up as an evacuation centre.

 

Wellington County OPP have been responding to calls about flooding since 6 a.m., and ask all drivers to stay off any water covered roads.

The Grand River Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning and flood watch for the Grand River Watershed.

It says some areas to the north could get more than 100 millimeters of rain by the time all is said and done.
